Dr. Dean Burk – Fluoride causes cancer
Dr. Dean Burk co-authored one of the most frequently cited papers in the history of biochemistry, “The Determination of Enzyme Dissociation Constants,” published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society in 1934.
In 1937, Dean became a co-founder of the US National Cancer Institute (NCI), and headed its Cytochemistry department for over three decades.

Fluoride is a toxic substance, and has been tied with numerous health complications in well-established research. Fluoride can be found in many water supplies, toothpaste, and even food at alarming levels. While it may sound shocking to many, some research is even drawing a close connection between fluoride and an increased cancer risk.
One paper entitled Fluoride – A Modern Toxic Waste says the following:
Yiamouyiannis documents research showing that fluoride increases the tumor growth rate by 25% at only 1 ppm, produces melanotic tumors, transforms normal cells into cancer cells and increases the carcinogenesis of other chemicals. For the original references to these studies, refer to Yiamouyiannis’ pamphlet, Lifesavers Guide to Fluoridation.

TRIBUTE TO JOHN YIAMOUYIANNIS (1943-2000)
Dr. John Yiamouyiannis, biochemist and founder of the Safe Water Foundation, USA, died October 8, 2000, passing away peacefully in sleep at his home in Delaware, Ohio, surrounded by members of his family.
Does Water Fluoridation have Negative Side Effects?
Did a Harvard dental professor, who moonlights as a consultant to Colgate, suppress evidence linking fluoride to bone cancer in children? A study done by a PhD candidate at Harvard Medical School was hidden away in their library until someone from the Environmental Working Group and the Fluoride Action Network discovered a copy in 2001. It’s conclusions were startling.
It is entirely possible that Dr. Douglass may have suppressed the PhD thesis conclusions of Dr. Elise Bassin, at that time a PhD candidate at Harvard Medical School of Dentistry, whose paper and data suggests a very strong link between fluoridation and Osteosarcoma in boys. Bassin has not given interviews concerning her research since the paper’s publication, but continues to stand behind her work in that study.
At the time of the Bassin study release, Douglass promised he would research and publish another paper showing that there was no connection between cancer and fluoridated water.
Because of his connections as a consultant with Colgate Corporation, a company that manufactures and strongly promotes dental products based on fluoride content, Harvard University conducted an in-house investigation to determine if Douglass had displayed any conflict of interest by suppressing his student’s information. Of course, Harvard found no problem with their own professor’s actions (in-house investigations are comparable to the fox guarding the henhouse). Douglass has since retired from the University.
New Study Fails to Refute Fluoride-Osteosarcoma Link
To reduce fluoride levels to a the greatest degree, activists must demand that the government stop fluoridating the water supplies. Water fluoridation has not only been linked to an increased cancer risk, but a decreased IQ in children. In fact, the findings forced the government to call for lower fluoridation levels nationwide.
Until water fluoridation comes to a halt, the easiest way to reduce fluoride exposure is to invest in a reverse osmosis water filtration system. Drinking distilled water for 3-6 months may also reduce the soft tissue fluoride levels, but not bone levels. Soft tissue fluoride levels cause the greatest health problems
