1. Processed Meats
When you eat meats that have been processed, you are most likely eating animals that were raised in a situation referred to as confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs). In all likelihood, it means that they were given all kinds of things to help keep them healthy and be extra beefy, such as growth hormones, antibiotics and other drugs.
In addition, when processed, the meat is injected with various nitrites as preservatives. These can form nitrosamines, a known cause of cancer.
Avoid it if you want to stay healthy.
Among the harmful components in margarine are the trans fats.
Trans fats are known to cause a wide variety of potentially deadly diseases including cancer, heart disease, hormone problems and a number of problems in children. Other problem ingredients in margarine include emulsifiers, preservatives and hexane, which can be toxic.
3. Simple Table Sugar
The body has problems handling it, and there is too much sugar in the average diet today.
Refined sugar causes liver problems, inflammation and a rise in cholesterol levels. It puts more sugar into fat storage, hurts the immune system and may contribute to cancer.
The problem is not the popcorn itself but the lining of the bag it comes in. A chemical called PFOA, used to keep the oils from leaking through, is known to cause many serious problems such as cancer, infertility, thyroid disease and testicular and liver cancer.
5. White Bread
There’s really is no food value in it.
Bread and other products made from whole grains should be used as much as possible.
6. Canned Tomatoes
The problem is not the tomatoes themselves, but a chemical found in all canned foods – bisphenol-A (BPA).
Get your tomatoes in glass jars.
7. White Rice
Just like white bread, white rice has had nearly all its nutrients removed in processing.
The good parts of the grain, the bran and the germ, have been removed, which leaves mostly the starch.
The best form of rice is brown rice, which is also better for diabetics because it will not cause a sugar spike. Research has indicated that white rice can lead to diabetes.
8. Frozen Meals
They should be avoided if you want to stay healthy. They contain many ingredients best left out of the diet, including preservatives, artificial ingredients and hydrogenated oils.
Besides this, they have already been cooked, meaning that many of the nutrients have already been destroyed.
9. Diet Soft Drinks
The word “diet” on a can of soda does not mean it is safe to drink. It doesn’t even necessarily mean you’ll lose weight from drinking it. It just means that it contains another sweetener besides sugar.
Medical reports now show a link between diet soda and problems like higher body mass index, increased likelihood of stroke and heart attack, high blood pressure and diabetes.
10. Artificial Sweeteners
Artificial Sweeteners have been implicated in many health problems including headaches, digestive problems, weight gain, depression and cancer.
